The goal of this project is to expand our international network of sustainable humanosphere researchers by dispatching young researchers for long-term visits to educational/research institutes that cultivate large numbers of professional who are active on the international stage. Further, it is hoped that the young researchers will, based on comprehensive and deep understanding of specific local communities, learn to develop and implement measures and policies suited to the circumstances of specific communities and become leaders in formulating our country’s international development strategy. The success of this project can be evaluated by the number of development projects, etc. sponsored by governments, international organizations, and NGO participated in by young researchers.
By even more actively engaging in academic exchange with the community of Asian and African area studies researchers within and outside our university and at world-class Asian and African area studies research institutions, we will strive to enhance Kyoto University’s international presence as a hub for organizing interdisciplinary area studies research at the international level and as a base for conducting field research.
The Cameroon field station is a base for field research that was established and is managed by Kyoto University’s Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies (ASAFAS). The website disseminates the results of research conducted at the field station to an international audience.
